In 2022, our focus was hyper local.

Based in our neighborhood of Wheaton, Maryland, One Montgomery Green (OMG) is a small but mighty nonprofit that is dedicated to engaging the community in practical and actionable sustainable practices through education and outreach. In an effort to empower the public to better adapt and mitigate the impacts of climate change, OMG works closely with high school students in its Clean Headwaters program. Students perform hands-on community science projects to determine the extent of plastics pollution in two Montgomery County streams. Another program, the SAPPlings Project, gives local teens an opportunity to train to became environmental leaders and stewards.

It takes a dedicated group of community volunteers, board members, neighborhood businesses, parents, and two tireless staff members to run the many events and classes offered monthly. Please join us in supporting this organization – donate here.
